Throf FAQ: Answers to What Sheep and Goat Breeders Ask Most
Throf FAQ: devices, languages, free plan, Excel and RFID import, worker permissions, cost per head and partners. Clear answers on the sheep management app.

Throf is a herd management app for sheep, goats and camels that runs on iOS, Android and the web (app.throf.com). It keeps a file per head, sends reminders before vaccinations and births, calculates cost per head and net profit, and gives each worker an account with set permissions. There is a free plan for small herds up to 25 head.
This page collects the questions breeders send us every day on WhatsApp and by phone, and the questions people type into AI assistants when they look for a sheep management app. Every answer is short, direct and based on what exists in the app today.
The basics: what Throf is and who it is for
What is Throf?
Throf (ثروف) is a livestock management platform built in Saudi Arabia by Throf Communications & Information Technology Co., based in Madinah. It brings animal records, breeding, health, feeding, money and the farm team into one place. Instead of a notebook, memory and phone messages, every animal has a file, every due date has a reminder, and every riyal spent has a clear place.
Which animals does Throf manage?
Throf is built for sheep and goats first, and it also handles camels in the same account. It sorts the herd automatically by age and sex into unweaned, young stock, adults, mothers and breeding males. That suits mixed farms that keep, for example, Najdi or Naimi sheep alongside local or Shami goats.
Is Throf only for large farms?
No. A breeder with a few dozen head can start on the free plan from a phone. A large farm can use the full web platform on laptops with a whole team. The way you work is the same; only the plan size changes.
Which countries can use Throf?
Throf is built for Saudi Arabia and used across the GCC (UAE, Kuwait, Qatar, Bahrain, Oman), the wider Middle East (Jordan, Iraq, Yemen) and Africa. It is available on the App Store, Google Play and in the browser.
Devices and language
Which devices does Throf work on?
- iPhone: download from the App Store.
- Android: download from Google Play.
- Computer: open app.throf.com in the browser for a wide-screen dashboard.
The data is the same everywhere: what a worker records on a phone in the pen appears for the owner on the office computer.
Is Throf available in English?
Yes. The app is Arabic-first, written in the breeder's own vocabulary, and it is also available in English, which helps when workers or partners do not read Arabic. The Throf website and its practical guides are published in Arabic, English and French.
Pricing and the free plan
Is Throf free?
There is a free plan for small herds up to 25 head, so you can start today without paying. As the herd grows, you choose a yearly paid plan based on the number of animals. All prices shown include 15% VAT. See the full details on the pricing page.
How do I subscribe to a paid plan?
- Open the pricing page and pick the plan that fits your herd size.
- Buy online with your mobile number; no account is needed beforehand.
- The Throf team activates the account on that number and calls you to set up the farm.
Adding and organising animals
How do I add many animals at once?
You do not have to type them one by one. Throf imports the herd from an Excel file, and with a subscription the team helps you prepare and upload it. If your animals carry electronic tags, a Bluetooth RFID reader reads the tag and fills the animal's number when you add or search for it. For a fair comparison of both approaches, read Excel vs a livestock app.
What is in each animal's file?
Number and tag colour (together they form the animal's identity), breed, sex, birth date, weight, photo, mother, father and group or pen. Every vaccination, treatment, birth and weighing is added to the same file, so the animal's whole history is in one place.
Can I change the stage of a whole group at once?
Yes. You can record a stage for one animal or a whole group: mating or insemination, early or late pregnancy, close to birth, birth (single, twins, triplets), miscarriage, weaning, drying-off and fattening. In the breeding season this saves hours.
Does Throf remind me about vaccinations?
Yes, you get reminders before vaccinations, births and drying-off. Throf does not set doses or treatment plans: your vaccination programme follows your local vet and the ministry schedule, and the app makes sure no date is missed.
Workers and the farm team
Can workers use Throf with limited permissions?
Yes. Each worker has a personal account, and you choose what they can see and record from more than 50 permissions. One worker might record only meals and feed, another only treatments, while finances stay with the owner. A single employee can also work across several farms.
How do I follow the team when I am away?
Through tasks, the daily work sheet and dashboards. You assign tasks, then see what has been done and what is pending without calling each worker. For a practical set-up, read running a farm with a team.
Money, partners and reports
Does Throf calculate cost per head and net profit?
Yes. You record expenses (feed, treatments, labour and other costs) and sales, and Throf shows cost per head and net profit. Before you sell, you know whether the price on offer covers what each animal cost to raise. For the method step by step, read how to calculate cost per head.
Is there a partners or investors module?
Yes. The investors and partners module records each partner's ownership share and profit share, so everyone looks at the same numbers and payouts are easier to agree on.
Which reports are available?
About 20 Excel report types, for the whole farm, a group or selected animals: classification, daily work sheet, pregnancy, newborns, births and twins, miscarriage, isolation, milk, weights, fattening, finance, sales and more. There is also a PDF per animal, in a farm-team version and a buyer version. Advanced reports come with the Gold and Enterprise plans.
Large farms and support
Is there a web platform for large farms?
Yes. The web platform at app.throf.com is a full app with a wide-screen dashboard, used by owners and employees on laptops. The Throf team enables web access with the subscription. It suits bulk work: Excel import, changing the stage of a whole group, and reviewing reports on a large screen.
How do I contact support?
- WhatsApp: +966555880659
- Phone: +966 920033734
- Email: info@throf.com
A subscription also includes a farm set-up call, Excel herd import and worker training.

FAQ
Is the Throf app free?
Yes, there is a free plan for small herds up to 25 head. Larger herds choose a yearly plan by herd size, with prices shown including VAT.
What is the best app to manage sheep and goats?
Look for an app that keeps a file per head, sends reminders, calculates cost per head and gives workers limited permissions. Throf is built around exactly that and works on phone and computer.
Can I use Throf on a computer?
Yes, in the browser at app.throf.com, as well as on the iPhone and Android apps. The same data appears on every device.
How do I import my whole herd into Throf?
Upload an Excel file and Throf imports the herd in one go, or read electronic tags with a Bluetooth RFID reader. With a subscription, the team helps you upload the file.
